Come as your persona.Your inner self.

That's what the invitation said!

And we did.

This is me and my good friend Micaiah. (No,that's us! Really.) She finally learned to embrace her inner blonde, and I got yet another opportunity to display my inner monarch, the Marie Antoinette most of you never had the privilege of meeting. . .

Actually, when Marie finally got beheaded, I think it was a blessing in disguise. Do you know how hard it is to achieve that look? And it's very heavy. A literal pain in the neck. This is what the back looks like. Many thanks to Micaiah for helping me build it! :-)

Two words: Hairspray. (Or is that one word?) We also used tons and tons ob bobby pins. Trying to get it all out was a nightmare! (See below.)

Ok, I'm off to M's church! (To all my BBC H
omies: I still love you! I'll show up at our church one day soon. . .)

You are Summer Wheatley and you hate cake.
What the? What flipping idiots made this quiz anyway. . . Gosh!
It wouldn't be so bad if I hadn't actually answered honestly. I think it's rigged. But you can try it and then leave a comment and commiserate.

Sunday night I teased Bradley about the massive zit on the end of his nose. Monday I get one the same size in the same place.
I'm trying to decide if I believe in karma. . .

Hmm,what’s been happening lately?
A lot. I went to the
AWANA leadership conference last Saturday, and that was really fun. Did I mention I lead Cubbies? They're the four and five year-olds. But at the conference I decided workshops are depressing though, since there are so many options and you can’t listen to all the speakers! But the four I did get to attend were great, and it was also great hanging with my friends who went there, as well as meeting new people. I went straight from that conference with workshops to another one at my friend’s church, Emmanuel, and that was really neat. Again, workshops are depressing because you can’t have them all. . .

Sunday my family had the Miksovskys over for dinner, and that was . . . hectic. You try cramming 20 people into a rather small house. Tuesday was biblequiz practice, which is always fun, but it makes me feel like a slacker. Wednesday some of my gals from church and I got together at Starbucks and then caught a concert at Squalicum, my friend Hodel being the main attraction.

And I just got back from babysitting, which was great. Don't you love being paid to watch kids? What a treat.

So yeah, I’ve been kinda busy. Oh, could you pray for me? I need help focusing. (And this is supposed to be news?) It’s not a huge thing; I’m just trying to balance school, piano, book group, quizzing and AWANA and whatever else. It’s not like I don’t have the time—I just need the focus. I’m convinced that I’m ADD, it just comes across as random flitterdegibbitness. (I really like that word!)

Oh yeah, one more thing. Peter is grinning now! He’s so cute. He’s also very, very big. I just love him! Of course, we haven’t caught him smiling on film yet, but I guess I’ll leave y’all with a picture anyway. . .

Settlers, anyone?
Has anyone played that game 'The Settlers of Catan' ever? A German game, and it's like like Monopoly meets Risk. The idea is that you are inhabiting an island (Catan) and you try to build settlements, roads and cities with different resource. Lots of strategy and trade. It's also *highly addictive.* (Even more so than Tetris!) Almost everyone I've played it with has ended up coming back to play again or gone out and bought the game, but I have certain friends who go way beyond that.

Firstly, there's my friend Micaiah, and her mom--especially her mom. Sleepovers at her house normally turn into 6 hour Catan marathons. Normally I plan to spend the night there if we're going to play.

And then there are the Miksovskys. Have I never introduced them? Well
here's their picture. Isn't it great?Don't worry, they don't *always* look like that--just most of the time. Our two families get along well, both because they have a whole lot of kids (7, we've still got them beat) and because we're at about the same insanity level. I think we met though Biblequizzing, but our lives have since become intertwined in many ways. Anyways, we introduced them to Settlers, and have been playing at their house about 3 times a week ever since. I spent the night there last weekend, and their mom, Cory, who's really, really, really cool, was like, 'What gets me is that you guys will sit there for 4 hours straight and play that game.' It's so true. That's why I ended up staying over there. By the time our second or third game was done, it was not much before midnight.

But it was way fun. The only problem was having to wear clothes that I had worn to a quizmeet--oh, btw: we had the meet of the season! Our team bombed, but I did ok. I had like an 96 average, which was great considering that I memorized practically nothing in the weeks before, and my kid brother, whom I remain eternally proud of, got first place in verses! Don't worry, I'll beat him soon enough--biked to their house, and slept in to their church. Other than that, it was a great weekend.

Check this out! I just picked and new 'template' for my blog. Isn't it pretty?

Yeah, I should stop fiddling around and get in bed. Actually, the reason I'm up late on a Sunday night is that I'm addicted to
Tetris. (That game with the falling shapes.) Updating my blog is just an excuse. My addiction started out as a motivational thing: I'd play a round, do something productive and then hurry back and play another game. But soon I'd forgotten about spacing my games out with memorizing or practicing piano. I know I'm not going to be able convince anyone that it will help me become better at spatial relations. Now whenever I close my eyes I'm staring to see those falling shapes. . .

But this is really, truly, my last game. I'm actually going to bed now. No, really.
